Programs Committee

The Programs Committee shall be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing all HPhA scheduled meetings and continuing education programs except for the Annual Meeting and the Scholarship & Awards Program. With the requirement of ACPE continuing education credit for license renewal, the demand from the committee is even more heightened.

Government Affairs Committee

The Government Affairs Committee shall provide input into the legislative process at the state or national level regarding issues affecting the pharmacy profession on behalf of HPhA; provide liaison between HPhA and the regulatory bodies in the State including but not limited to the Department of Human Services, Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Board of Pharmacy, Department of Health, and Department of Public Safety; and encourage the participation of Members in the legislative process.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee shall be responsible for matters dealing with membership in HPhA. The Committee is responsible for maintaining the member database, ensuring collection of membership dues, recruiting new members, proposing renewal fees, and minimizing attrition. Membership profiles will remain the property of the association and membership lists shall not be provided to a third party without the approval of the Board and if member has designated approval to release information as per his/her membership application.

Scholarship and Awards Committee

This committee is responsible for selection of persons to receive the following:

  • 1. The Edmund Ehlke Scholarship award, sponsored by HPhA. This is a cash award to be given to a full-time student in a pharmacy practice degree program in an accredited college of pharmacy. Scholarship is based on financial need, academics, community service, and written essay.
  • 2. Awards to those serving in the pharmacy profession deemed worthy or recognition for outstanding service to the profession and community. Awards include: Pharmacist of the Year, Bowl of Hygeia, Innovative Pharmacy Practice, and Pharmacy Technician of the Year, Distinguished Young Pharmacist, and Pharmacy Achievement Award.
  • 3. Lifetime Honorary Membership award will be presented at the Annual Meeting or the Scholarship and Awards program. The committee shall accept nominations and recommend to the Board persons worthy of receiving lifetime honorary member status.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee shall be composed of the Treasurer, the Immediate Past President, the Exec. Director, and at least two active members not on the Board of Directors. The Finance Committee shall meet periodically and make recommendations to the Board as to the proper management, conservation, and prudent investment of the assets and funds of HPhA. The two non-Board members of the committee shall review the financial records of HPhA for correctness and completeness and shall report findings to the Board of Directors annually or whenever the Treasurer changes.

Annual Meeting Committee

The Annual Meeting is the largest event, sponsored by HPhA, in regards to financial impact, membership attendance, and manpower. The committee consists of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmaceutical representatives allowing for different perspectives and exchange of ideas and input. The Annual Meeting is usually a 2 - day program and committee members are required to participate at several planning meetings prior to the event dates. The committee is responsible for selection of program themes, content, selection of speakers and raising funds to support the program.

Newsletter Committee

This Committee shall be responsible for designing, preparing and writing articles for the HPhA newsletter on a quarterly basis.  Committee members will be responsible for the posting and distribution of newsletters on the HPhA’s website.
